Talentworks is currently recruiting a .NET Developer for Halifax-based Metaworks.
 
Metaworks offers handheld, wireless, and Web-based solutions that connect mobile staff with corporate data for field intelligence in the retail service industry. In addition, Metaworks is becoming known throughout North America as the developer of Mantis, the mobile technology solution for onsite real-time data collection and reporting, delivering rapid ROI to manufacturers and merchandisers of consumer packaged goods.
 
Metaworks is an Agile Development shop focused on delivering business value.  They stress the importance of ongoing face-to-face communication, regular feedback and prioritization with the business.  They offer a fast-paced team-oriented environment, the opportunity to participate in the entire development lifecycle from concept to client install, and hands-on experience with leading mobile technologies.
 
This .NET Developer position is responsible for the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of web-based database applications which link (wired and wireless) to handheld devices and requires the following technical capabilities:
•    Web and Windows forms application development
          ASP.NET v3.5, Visual Studio.NET 2008
          Web services, Windows IIS
          JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, DOM manipulation and client-side validation
          HTML, CSS, XML
•    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 design & development
          T-SQL and stored procedures
          Basic to moderate database administration knowledge
•    Understanding of networks and the hardware/software that support them
 
Experience with application integration using Windows technologies, an understanding of Windows and Internet security, familiarity with RDLC, exposure to handheld technologies and knowledge of test-driven development, agile methodology and rally management software would be preferred.

Having proven recent hands-on .NET development experience is a must, ideally in a software product company.  A bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent is preferred.
